Cycling and Motorcycle Tourism
In the Monti della Laga, you will find most of a beautiful scenic, cultural, and food-and-wine itinerary to explore by mountain bike, perfect for your extraordinary two-wheel holiday.
Also for road cycling and racing bikes, there is no shortage of routes here: more contemplative riders will find spectacular scenery along the easy trails of the Adriatic Green Corridor, cycling by the sea; more adventurous cyclists can challenge themselves on numerous moderate and demanding climbs, even reaching towards the Gran Sasso.
The town of Pineto was chosen as the 3rd Italian circuit, the Aprutium Race, of the Olympic discipline “Internazionali d’Italia Series 2018” for mountain biking; it is a points-based race, where the points earned by participants count towards the World Cup or the European MTB Championships. Hard to believe but true… the Internazionali d’Italia MTB takes place by the sea, with highly technical routes. The Abruzzo circuit measures 4.1 km with 175 meters of elevation gain per lap and is held for more than half of its length in a wooded area.
Truly exciting curves and routes, with breathtaking views, ancient villages and unspoiled nature, are also available for motorcycle tourism enthusiasts in Abruzzo, Italy’s green region.

Mountains, parks, nature, art, culture.
How could we not mention the Gran Sasso d’Italia? With its Corno Grande on the western side reaching about 2,912 metres in height, it represents for us Abruzzese a kind of great sentinel that protects and watches over us.
Equally enchanting and almost fairy-tale-like are the Monti della Laga, characterised by beech, fir, chestnut and oak trees, which provide shelter to wolves, wild boars and porcupines. In Abruzzo also lives half of the population of the Marsican brown bear, a precious endangered species.
This is a land of sea and mountains, of natural parks and enchanted valleys, of 100 waterfalls and miles of beaches; but also of culture: abbeys, castles, hermitages, sanctuaries, villages and fortresses, unique monuments that bear witness to the civilisation and history of Abruzzo.
There are countless trekking routes to suit all tastes. Among these, you might consider planning some routes to discover the many Franciscan convents of the Val Fino, or the hermitages of the Gran Sasso, such as the Hermitage of San Nicola di Fano in Corno, the Hermitage of Fra Nicola, and that of Santa Colomba.
Not to forget the culture and folklore found in the many local festivals and traditions, such as Easter in Sulmona, where the “Madonna che scappa” in the square represents the moving encounter with her resurrected Son and the deep religious spirit that animates the entire Abruzzese community.
Horse riding enthusiasts might also consider taking the Sentiero Italia 100 of the Gran Sasso Park bridleway, riding from Pietracamela to Prati di Tivo and then on towards the Laghetta refuge.
